Kritsa: Venetian style village ruined house, restored in traditional style.
This once splendid house was a crumbling ruin when our clients bought it and we started to renovate it. The original roof tiles were retained but the roof itself was insulated. The upper original wooden ceiling was kept with its wonderful carved crenellation, which the owners spent many holidays cleaning and polishing until it was like new. The worn wooden steps to the second floor were steep so a thick rope was added to assist ascension. The old kitchen with external access from the courtyard was turned into a storage.
New electrical and plumbing installations were throughout the house. From the courtyard one entered the ground floor open plan kitchen/diner. Original painted concrete tiles were sourced for this room; the back dark room is a cosy bedroom. Up the wooden hill to a sitting room and spacious bathroom. A split-level terrace is a nice place to sit outside and watch the villagers pass by, look at the hills and up at the night sky.
